Below you will find a few recommendations of five bucket list destinations to visit if you would like to get close to nature.
Travel is about making new friends & seeing more of the natural beauty around us, instead of being stuck in a hotel or on the beach. See 5 Destinations You Should Have On Your Bucket List! #bucketlistdestinations #bucketlisttravel Click To Tweet1. India
When thinking about India, you will immediately think about pollution and big cities with tens of millions of people. There is, however, a rural side of the country where you can find wild animals living in their natural habitat. While monkeys and elephants, not to mention the Bengal Tiger have been pushed out of their environments, you can find plenty of wildlife reserves in India where you can still meet them.
2. Costa Rica
One of the favorite destinations of Americans, this country pays a lot of attention to ecotourism and preserving the living environment of species. While industrial deforestation can’t be stopped, there are several national parks and reserves where you can meet sloths, toucans, and howling monkeys. Plus, you could also take a trip to the canopy layer of the rainforest in Costa Rica, and you will be amazed by the biodiversity of the country.
3. Mexico
Mexico is not only a great cultural destination, but it also has some great forests with ancient ruins to explore. No matter if you are signing up for a tour with a local company or are looking to explore the forests and rural villages on your, Mexico will not disappoint you, that’s for sure. If you are interested in natural history, you need to check out the Sumidero Canyon National Park.
4. Cambodia
One of the Asian countries that you might not consider visiting, but should is Cambodia. There is a great biodiversity here, and you are likely to find plenty of remote villages and lower prices than in the rest of the continent. You might also want to learn about the islands, such as the one that was awarded as best ecotourism destination offering great programs and tours, educational visits, and stunning eco-friendly accommodation as well.
5. Colombia
There’s nothing like touring Santa Marta, Colombia. No matter if you are interested in the culture, the food, or the national parks, you are going to find everything at the same place. From stunning beaches to great scuba diving locations and hidden waterfalls, loads of adventures await travelers in Colombia. Be sure to check out the Tayrona National Park, where you can go on a hike. Or even spend the night under the stars.
Life and travel is about making new friends and seeing more of the natural beauty around us, instead of being stuck in a hotel or on the beach. Be sure to check out the destinations above and add some of them on your bucket list next time you are looking for inspiration.

These are all super interesting destinations! I visited India a few years ago and it was an incredible experience. Now I would really like to see Colombia 🙂
This kid and elephant picture! It is brilliant! I wish it was my shot haha. It is done so well! (I don’t say it easy, I am very picky about photos)
A few days ago I was having dinner with some friends and we were talking about where would you move in the world if you could and I mentioned Cambodia! Maybe it could be a good decision to visit this enchanting place soon. Anyway, I might go to Costa Rica or Mexico in three months! Still debating it!
Very nice. I bet the cost of living is great in Cambodia too. We were planning on hitting up the Yucatan next month too but opted for Morocco…let us know which one you choose!!
I live in India, so been there done that. But I would absolutely love to visit Costa Rica and Columbia. This is a really nice list.
I feel like patting myself on the back after reading this list. I’ve been to all of the places including bumping into a Bengal tiger in India and surviving! I agree with the sentimet about getting to them before industrialization or just plain life destroys their essence. That is what motivates me when I travel. Trying to see places before they are irrevocably changed by tourism or “progress”.
I’ve yet to visit Colombia and Costa Rica, but both are high on our list. Costa Rica looks amazing and would love to explore the rainforest, beaches, volcanoes …. ! Mexico is special for us – we got engaged on the top of Coba! We’ve actually been talking recently to go back to Mexico, maybe for our anniversary. I hope I get the chance to visit Columbia and Costa Rica soon : )
We loved the coastal cities of Columbia and I’m sure you guys would love it too. So glad to hear you’re special ties to Mexico
Great list! India and Cambodia are in our bucket list for next year as well. Those will be the first countries we are planning to visit when we go abroad from the Philippines.
Awesome, I’m sure you’re going to love Cambodia
Yes, we have all these destinations on our bucket list. We are fighting because one wants to travel in Asia, another in South America. You have got both continents on this list. Are amazing lands and we need to explore both.
Haha, well you’re right both continents are amazing. But I don’t want you guys to fight about it…Go to Both!!
I have seen and read so much lately about all of these destinations. I have only been to Mexico so far (and only to Cancun…25 years ago). It warms my heart to see Columbia emerging as a tourist destination after so many years of social and political upheaval there. I hope to someday get to all of these countries.
Yeah we loved our time in Colombia! You definitely need to get there
